I was honestly pleasantly surprised with this place! We came over the weekend as a family and they were open early in the morning which was a plus. I got the French toast and my husband got the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. It wasn't anything extraordinary but I feel like they made exactly what I was expecting. Service was super quick and I thought people were friendly

It was a work trip. I didn't have time for a long eating experience and my co-workers recommended Billy Goat. I'm not a "Tavern" type of person but thought, "Why not". Outside not much of a grab your attention spot and the inside is antiquated and if not for the recommendation I would have walked out. There was a line, a second clue, the food must be good. I ordered a Cheese Burger. It was delicious, fresh and seasoned. They don't have fries and please don't ask. The condiment bar is OPEN, I'm not a fan due to the potentials of bugs and others using their hand or other things to secure items. Overall, it was a great experience!!

Location is the first thing that stuck out to me - it's under the rest of town down a stairwell and a super interesting vibe. Vibes are awesome and one of the best parts. It was a rustic, old-fashioned vibe that reminded me of a time before I was born. The burger itself was simple, but good. My favorite part was the bun, which was the best part. It also came out really quickly, so plus for service.

great food, the restaurant staff is really kind, and helpful. ordering was super easy cuz you can pay at your table with Apple pay. the bartender on the other hand is kinda rude. I was the only person in the restaurant and she didn't say greet me or ask where I wanted to sit. I had to ask where to go then she pointed around the corner when I said I wanted food, like I'm supposed to know where to go. like went out of her way to make me feel unwelcomed. and you can't get a beer unless you have a physical id. they dont take picture.

Burgers were absolutely delicious!!! This place is under a bridge, made my map app crazy trying to get us here. But I'm glad we didn't give up Cashier was super funny when I asked for an order of fries, they don't do those here Super friendly and fast service.

Classic joint in the lower level of Michigan Ave. Made famous from Saturday Night Live and of course the "Billy Goat Curse" against the Cubs which ended Nov 2016. Walking in side and cruising down the steps takes you back in time as you feel like maybe you're in the 1960s. "Cheezborger, Cheezborger. No Pepsi, Coke. No fries, chips." Ground beef sizzling on a classically season griddle. Hot dogs, beef sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches, and of course grilled cheese. You will get a limited but standard classic grill menu that doesn't disappoint.

Old school spot! Trust me just get the double cheese burger! The single is not enough the double is just right. No fries just potatoes chips and tasty smashed burgers, salami sandwich ,hotdogs ribeye steak sandwich and a few signature burgers. You can get single, double and triples burgers! They are known for burgers!!! Oh by the way don't get in line until you're ready especially if they are busy! The burgers only come with cheese and meat. The condiments are on the side in a little mini bar. Pickles, onions, relish, ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise. Fix it your way! Lots of history and they have a cool bar. The vibe is very historical and the burger was truly delicious. Simple and great flavor. This place is a well oiled machine. If you can find it you are truly the G.O.A.T.! Hard place to find it's under a bridge!!!

While out and about walking around and exploring the city my family and I needed a quick meal. Billy Goat tavern was top of the list and seeing the amazing prices I knew it was a must go. When you walk in you definitely get old school vibes and love they have such a variety on their menu yet are all simple meals. I opted for the double cheeseborger with grilled onions and to wash it down I knew I had to try one of their in house ales. Meal came out quickly and I love that they have a condiment bar so you can pick what you want on. The pickles were so good from the bar that I had to go back for more and more to add to my burger. The burger was greasy and juicy. The perfect meal after a long day of walking, and washing it down with a cold beer was the perfect way to end our early dinner. I was amazed at the flavor and prices and know Billy Goat will be a must go every time I visit Chi-town.

Yes, yes...this is the inspiration for the running sketch in the early years of SNL when John Belushi, Dan Ackroyd, and Bill Murray played Greek employees of a greasy spoon that served... "Cheezborger. Cheezborger. Cheeps. Cheeps. No Coke. Pepsi." Even though over a half-century has elapsed, Billy Goat still capitalizes on the connection in their signage. I thought it might be fun to stop by for a cheezborger after our fulfilling architectural boat cruise. Despite its official address, it's actually below Michigan Avenue where there's a labyrinth of underground roads. After entering, the first sign you see says "Enter at Your Own Risk" (photo: https://yelp.to/EmO-DA6e8f). They're trying to retain their sassy reputation, but they're no Wiener's Circle. The server behind the counter was actually nice when we made our simple order. We decided to split the $5.59 Cheeseburger (spelled right on the menu - photo: https://yelp.to/UxvWuKcjZj). Still no fries, just cheeps, so we got a bag of Lay's Potato Chips and a couple of Diet Pepsis...no Cokes! The big draw for us were the piles of dill pickle slices and raw onions we gathered at the condiment table. We weren't picky. It hit the spot. FOOD - 4 stars...Cheezborger!...that's it AMBIANCE - 4 stars...the celebrity photo walls were worth perusing...otherwise formica and naugahyde SERVICE - 3.5 stars...nicer than you'd expect...they made us wear paper hats TOTAL - 4 stars...nothing fancy here RELATED - Exploring Chicago?
